Today is Saint Mary MaKillop’s feast day. Mary MaKillop is the first saint in Australia. She was born on the 15th of January 1842 and died on the 8th of August 1909. She loved kids. She was a teacher. Her first job was as a clerk when she was 14. Then she worked as a governess looking after her cousins and teaching them. She became a saint in 1995 after a woman prayed to her and then her cancer disappeared. Then Pope Benedict the sixteenth recognized her as a saint.
